Country is already witnessing celebration mode of IPL season 10 growing bigger as the inauguration date is coming closer, here comes something more for Indian cricket fans to celebrate. According to the sources, renowned and India’s favourite commentator Harsha Bhogle is all set to return as a panellist in the upcoming season of IPL.
After serving almost a year of exile Harsha Bhogle is all set to return to commentary, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror. It is learnt that the decision of Harsha to be brought back in IPL season 10 is to fill up the absence of Pakistani experts Ramiz Raja, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar due to the current tension between India and Pakistan. Change in the apex of BCCI also turned the decision to be in favour of Harsha Bhogle.
Harsha was surprisingly dropped out from the commentary team of IPL 9 last year after T20 World Cup. Formal reasons from BCCI was never received on this matter, it was however speculated that it was Harsha’s harsh comments on Indian Players for their underperformance and appraisal of the opposition team which landed him out of commentary box. The comments were also not well taken by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan who indirectly pointed towards Harsha in his tweet stating
" With all due respects, it would be really worth of an Indian commentator to speak more about our players than others all the time."
This was retweeted by former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and complaints were made to BCCI by some of the Indian Players.
It is reported that the official broadcaster of IPL, Sony is in discussion with the commentator for his comeback to studios to do commentary in Hindi but nothing has been put on paper yet. Since the tournament is officially organised by BCCI it is least likely that Harsha will be seen commentating. However, the current officials in BCCI have no objection with Harsha returning back to the studios.
It will be delightful for Cricket fans in India to see Harsha even in the Studios. Now an official announcement from the Board in this regard is awaited.
